We have seen the downfall of brutal and abusive powers in history and also the celebration of those oppressed by them when that day comes. Nahum is an interesting prophet who, like Obadiah, directed his message to a powerful neighboring kingdom bent on the destruction and abuse of God’s people.
His prophecy was not just an encouraging message to the beaten-down people of Jerusalem, it was God Himself standing against that abuse and working on behalf of the disheartened to bring an end to that suffering.
To those who benefitted from and furthered the abuse of God’s people, His wrath against them would be frightening and final. But to those who called out to God for His help and His hand of rescue, God’s wrath was nothing less than great comfort to them in His victorious opposition to brutal and bitter injustice.
NO-WRONG-ANSWERS DISCUSSION QUESTIONS
A key feature of this study is our "No-Wrong-Answers" discussion questions. You do not need to have prior knowledge of the the Minor Prophets to journey with them in our studies.
These twelve books are among the least known books of the Bible for many Christians. No worries! We will focus on the most important thing— what God is saying to us today through these awesome prophets. So read through and jot your thoughts down if you'd like, but come to your group ready to talk about and discuss how Nahum's message speaks to you today.
The study is broken up into sections so that discussion can happen all during your group time and not just at the end. This is an easy way to come close to the Minor Prophets and hear God's voice in them as followers of Christ. Group leaders can facilitate discussion, but no prep is required for this study.
