What the twelve mean to me

Words That Heal

Welcoming the words of the Minor Prophets has changed my life for the better. They cared enough to say what needed to be said no matter the cost. Without a doubt, any time I have spent with them has been transformative for me. I can be pretty stubborn, I have to admit, and the message of these prophets is that God's love is stubborn, too. His voice is clear in these blustery books: seek Me and live. Rise up from the wreckage. Repent of all that has brought on the ashes. No more wandering. No more reaping the whirlwind. Through Jesus our Redeemer, come home.

As an author and life group leader in my local church, I blog about how I see the potent messages in the Minor Prophets remaining relevant to our self-centered culture.  Bold and unapologetic, they remind us to concentrate on what is eternal and lead lives of genuine, compassionate faith.

The Book

The Twelve: A Transformational Journey Through The Minor Prophets has been a year long labor of love in studying and reflecting on the challenging messages God gave through these twelve men.  The Minors have become reliable and life-giving friends in the process.  I hope they will be for you as well.

Why i love the minor prophets

God is unfazed by the walls we can throw up in our stubbornness and insecurity. His love pursues us to rescue and heal us. The Minors prove it.

“But he’s already made it plain how to live, what to do, what God is looking for in men and women.  It’s quite simple: Do what is fair and just to your neighbor, be compassionate and loyal in your love, and don’t take yourself so seriously—take God seriously.”
